Event Description

Where does the state of archaeological research now stand on the Arizona Strip and adjacent areas of Utah and Nevada? What has the archaeological community learned over the past 25 years? What new research directions are we poised to pursue in the future?

The Kaibab-Vermilion Cliffs Heritage Alliance has organized this symposium to bring together archaeologists working in the region to share data and address these questions.

An invited panel of agency archaeologists, academic and CRM researchers, and tribal representatives will present papers and discuss the state of research and prospects for the future. There will also be a session intended for the general public that will present information on recent discoveries, sites open to public visitation, site etiquette, the Site Stewards program, and other volunteer opportunities.
