Venturing out, tip #B1Upon seeing a statue that you don’t understand, ask about it. You may discover a neat piece of history, or entire systems of spirituality and charitable giving.
For example, I was hanging out in Disney-ized China, when I discovered this statue of Buddha with a pile of cash in his lap. I asked around, and discovered a cool Chinese-Buddhist ritual, that ends in a corporate giant doing something pretty charitable. Check it out, at http://ashkuff.com/blog/?p=401

So my question for OAC is this: do you see any significance in Disney (a western corporate giant) facilitating a Buddhist ritual? Does this strike you as culturally exploitative, or as cosmopolitan and forward-thinking?
