Not all Web 2 users understand the protocols of web interaction?

I posted this in the other thread re: Nikos and his reposting

I would like to call on everyone to calm down a bit. Admittedly Nikos' posting contravenes certain rules and some of these maybe felt more accutely in academia - such as "perceived" plagiarism. However, the Internet - especially web 2 and 3, are very new experiences for many people and not used by everyone equally. There are no grounds for legal action in and of or regarding these threads. Indeed, ownership and rights, boundaries, freedom of information and so on are extremely pertinant topics concerning the web, not understood by everyone, even those bodies who concern themselves with them.

What I would argue for is for less mobbing and calling people names. If there are going to be rules let the rule number one be no mobbing, and rule number two be no calling people names. Rule number three maybe should be have a little compassion.

I support Brett's proposal.
I also agree, and we have a specific thread for discussing new rules for this place over here... it would be more valuable to post your proposed "first three rules" there, where they will not get lost and can be discussed by those choosing to read and discuss rules on that thread.
