I believe that anthropology that focuses on environmental issues has a presence in academic studies but particularly in applied anthropology in Brazil (in this case, see for example the Socio-Environmental Institute: http://www.socioambiental.org/ ). But I also believe that the space of anthropologists with this bias in the "public sphere" in Brazil is small. (I have here are two Brazilian anthropologists "believing" in something!)
Ecology is a buzz word in this sense anthropologists are often driven by marketing agencies to make their product more in line with these trends. Some good suggestions to make advertisements for cleaning products ...
