I'm by no means 'well read' on the subject, but Raewyn Connell (http://trans.ilga.org/trans/welcome_to_the_ilga_trans_secretariat/t...) is perhaps the most famous theorist on masculinity.  There is also Caroline & Filippo Osella's book on Masculinities in South Asia (Caroline Osella is doing quite wonderful stuff on masculinity).

There hasnt been much discussion here yet and I am wondering whether anyone here is already well read on anthropology of masculinity or other theories of masculinity. Any recommendations?
