Mathematics of Man Observatory

In 1954 K Levi-Strauss introduced a new term-"Mathematics of Man" as an area of the ultimate cooperation between algebraic topology and pure anthropology. His first experiments in such sort of mathematics of man were made with great Andre Weil...

New face of experimental anthropology 1 Reply

Some so-called "primitive mathematics " by ancient mathematicians is trivial, but not banal. My first attempts to reconstruct well - forgotten Plato's periodic perfect numbers in 1998-1999 were are…Continue

Some fundamental mathematical problems ( for example Riemann conjecture  on mysterious distribution of the prime numbers in some unknown space ) have sense even in anthropology. A. Weil , working under Riemann hypothesis, used such findings in his applications for kinship theory ( with Levy-Strauss in 1940s ).

Some remarks after God&Physics Conference ( Oxford university 7-10 July 2010)
KLS (K.Levi-Strauss) believed that ALL known mathematics is human. However,
some mathematicians had another understanding. The next opposite step from
KLS - to introduce "Mathematics of Nature".

Following KLS, it is possible to imagine that ALL UNIVERSE has mathematical
unconscious structure ( well known hypothesis of "Mathematical Universe "by T.).This trend is wrong.

Anthropology can suggest a new kind of mathematical studies,INDEED,where
Nature itself has own mathematical structure which cannot be expressed by
simplified analogies of human mathematics.

In comparison with structuralist hypothesis of "Mathematical Universe", we may
scientifically assume that Nature can have a kind of Mind ( in order to have
such sort of beautiful mathematical equations . Case of Schrodinger's equation ))....

K.Levi-Strauss could be considered as a naturalist, iff mathematics ( categorical mathematics ) is a part of natural sciences. In fact, structural analysis is becoming categorical analysis in the context of history of comtemporary category mathematics, founded by A.Weil . It is can be understood as reinforcement of M.Bloch argument that Levi-Strauss is imperfect evolutionary anthropologist...

Mathematics of Man * is an attempt of cooperation between pure anthropology and pure mathematics, predicted by Andre Weil and K. Levi-Strauss in 1950s. Andre Weil (1906 - 1998 ) was great mathematician and, in fact ,leader of the Bourbaki group. He created new area of futuristic and very elegant mathematics ( algebraic topology, automorphic representation theory, Weil conjecture, edele rings, Pontriagin duality, cheaf theory ,uniform space and another ideas of number theory and differential geometry ! ) . Since the first attempts in mathematics of man in 1950s with Levi-Strauss, new Bourbaki mathematics made remarkable progress in 2000s. To explore these new mathematical universes in anthropology ( categorical and topoi-anthropology ) and art ( neo post-structuralist ballet ) is main idea of new group.Welcome.
