OAC Help

The purpose of this group is to provide technical or practical assistance to all OAC members. You do not need to be a member of this group to browse the threads for answers to frequently asked questions.

To post a question in the discussion forum, first log in, then join this group by clicking on '+Join OAC Help' at the top right-hand side of the page. Then, click on '+Start Discussion' (see below) to begin a new thread.

If your question relates to a feature or problem with the Ning website, please review the comprehensive Ning Help pages, which you can search by keyword or browse by topic here: Ning Help.

It is likely that most issues have already been addressed there.

If you are still having difficulty with any of the features on this website, such as groups, forums, blogs, photos, or user profiles, ensure that your thread in the forum clearly indicates the problem. All members (including moderators) can then respond to your query and the solution will remain publicly available for future reference.

A detailed FAQ will also appear here shortly.

On my new IBM laptop, whenever I enter OAC it freezes, so I can't really do anything, even go from one page to another. Any ideas about what could cause this, and what I should do? (I am currently connected on my old IBM laptop.)

With regard to Keith's post on the Policy Forum, if anyone archived the help thread relating to blocking ads in Firefox, I would be grateful if you could send it to me or re-post here in the forum.

Thanks.

Cosimo,

Thank you for sharing that. Yahoo! Pipes looks like the most versatile and effective tool for RSS mash-up. I'm going to add that feed to my live bookmarks and I'm sure others will find it useful too.

There is something that I would like to share with you, and I think this is the right place, also considering the discussion that I started here in the group forum.

I used Yahoo!Pipes Feed Filter application (http://is.gd/MB1g) in order to filter the main "Latest Activity" RSS of OAC on Ning, so that it does not display the boring "X updated theri profile..." and "Y joined that or that group..."

here is the url of the rss pipes filter; the original is very long so I had to shrink it, otherwise Ning truncates it: http://preview.tinyurl.com/oac-latest-activity-filtered

You can add the url that will show up on your favourite rss reader, or you could create yours via Yahoo! Pipes.

Cheers,
Cosimo

In response to a request for a technical help forum, let's hope this can enable us to better assist each other.
