About the OAC Press

The OAC Press is the publishing arm of Open Anthropology Cooperative. Founded in October 2009 by Justin Shaffner and Keith Hart, we hope soon to put together a team of editors and an editorial board drawn in the first instance from members of the OAC. We solicit a wide range of writings from work in progress to finished pieces. They should all in some way seek to advance anthropology by engaging with radical ideas in innovative ways. This includes any subfield of the academic discipline and interdisciplinary writing that anthropologists might find engaging.

Whatever we publish will appear online and in a downloadable format. In each case we will generate a customized discussion forum for comment and feedback in general. We place no restriction on further publication of material published by the OAC Press. Our first venture is a Working Papers Series; but we expect also to provide a means of developing conference and workshop proceedings and will consider documents of any length within reason.

The Press welcomes expressions of interest from all members of the OAC. Please contact us if you are interested in joining our team as an editor or on the editorial board. Each may be asked to review manuscripts, but the latter rarely and the former will also participate in the preparation of texts for publication. If you would like to submit a piece of writing of any length and at any stage of development, please contact us. We will respond as quickly as possible to all your inquiries.

I would like to propose a new format for the OAC press. As a preliminary title, I would propose to call it the “OAC Bulletin”. Why not calling it a journal?Because a journal has the shortcoming that…Continue
