Hi, I am also a PhD student in sustainable development, although i study this via an anthropological perspective, as it is interpreted in west Wales.

You wait and wait for a student in sustainable development, then two come along at once....

Hi, I am a Ph.D student in Sustainable Development (an interdisciplinary soup of fields) at Columbia University, but currently I'm in Cambridge, MA, as an Exchange Scholar at Harvard. My work is on the increasing Chinese and Indian influences and presences in Zambia, which includes mapping the construction of Zambia's road network since the 1970s and looking at land cover changes, as well as looking at the evolution of people's careers.

Hello! Anybody has a good idea on where to apply for a good M.A. or PhD in Medical Anthropology? I'd like suggestions also outside US or Europe... examples: Brazil? India? Thank you!

Deniz, you can find rankings of journals at ISI Web of Knowledge which lists the top 20 anthropology journals for 2008 sorted by Impact Factor.

First of all, I apologize for not reacting sooner to Olumide's post. I am away from my base-station in Portugal, doing fieldwork on sensory practices and politics of culture in folk festivals in Southern Spain. This means I can't check my email or my communities as often as I would like. I will try to keep in touch, however.
At the moment, I am exactly in one of those situations which confront us so often in the course of our research: you have everything worked out and planned, but somehow things get side-tracked. For starters I lost one of my bags in Madrid, on the way to Beneixama, one of the places where I do my fieldwork. So I missed a few days of the festival trying to get my luggage back. Confronted with the 'real facts' of my research field, I started doubting the wisdom of the approach I had so carefully mapped out before coming here. I am still doubting, but also starting to feel more confident that a change in method and theoretical outlook is necessary. Also, it appears that my bag will be delivered tomorow. So, all's well that ends well.
I also woul like to welcome Janny; nice to have you with us!

Great idea, Maria. Maybe you could start a discussion thread on that here? I too think it would be a good idea to actually find ways to offer each other support. What do you think? Any ideas anybody?
