What does it mean to you to be queer when doing fieldwork and in anthropology in general?

My frist experience of 'queering' the field was in Japan as I had to turn down many invitations for arranged marriage and several sex proposals. Saying 'no' in Japan is hard enough, having to remain trustworthy and closeted at the same time (could only come out five times during fieldwork ) was to challenge my sense of reflexivity and how intimacy is produced and sustained in the process of fieldwork.
