INTRODUCTION
Several distinct cultural horizons have been identified in the Southwest, and even within this region there is a good deal of specialization by archaeologists. Cross-cultural comparisons are extremely valuable, and I would hope to see a lot of sharing among the members of this group.
I will be creating a Wiki for the group where we can archive useful resources, and welcome any comments or suggestions that will help make this group useful to all of us.

Greetings! I've traveled in the Southwest quite a lot, including several visits to such places as Mesa Verde, Montezuma Castle, Tuzigut, Walnut Canyon, and the several petroglyph sites in the Moab area, I'm much interested. (I'm a retired geologist/editor.)

Registration is open for the Pecos Conference 2011, which takes place just south of Jacob Lake (a few miles north of the Grand Canyon North Rim). The fun begins on August 11th!

There is another southwest archaeology conference coming up in April:
Chimney Rock in the Chacoan World
This two-day conference is in Pagosa Springs, Colorado on April 29th and 30th.

It took me almost two weeks to get around to it, but I have finally posted most of my notes from the 2010 Mogollon Archaeology Conference.

I wanted to draw your attention to another Southwest archaeological conference: Discovering the Archaeology of the Arizona Strip Region, occurring the weekend of November 12-13. Not sure if I'm attending yet, but it looks interesting.

I am attending the 2010 Mogollon Archaeology Conference at New Mexico State University this weekend (see event page).
I'm planning to blog here at the OAC about the sessions, and I"ll add a comment here as I do.
