I teach history in college. Presently on leave for a Phd. program on ethnic art and i'm overwhelm by the theories, the methodology, the arguments. Its a new subject and i feel like a student again, should have opted for anthropology back then.

Hello, fellow students of anthropology. I've been off doing other things, and have badly neglected this fledgling group!

I'm now in week 6 of a wonderful seminar on Economic Archaeology at ASU, and the workload is killing me (when I factor in my day job, being an admin here at the OAC, and a couple of independent research projects).

I hope to begin some new discussions here, but please... feel free to initiate a topic if you like. What would you like to get from a group dedicated to non-traditional students? How are you balancing your return to school with the rest of the demands in your life?

I retired from the computer industry in 1996, then became a non-traditional student and picked up my degree in Anthropology in 2000. Wish I had done it much sooner, but I feel this field was just waiting for me

Thanks for the heads-up re: additions to the Student page & the links. I reviewed the non-trad blogs, I prefer the second Memoirs of a non-trad. The author seems to be a more experienced blogger. I just looked at my "What-if" transcript, seems I have a little work to do re: science credits.

Sorry I haven't posted more material here lately-- I've been quite busy. I did manage to add a couple of links on our Wiki page that you might find useful-- one to the online Masters program at UNT, and another to a part-time program in Social Anthropology at Birkbeck in London.
