Who wants to create a cross-disciplinary discussion that can be mutually beneficial?

I'm a video and installation artist, and I want to share my current project - which investigates perception of privacy, space, and place in suburban Kenya - with social scientists and create a dialogue between the two fields.

I think that the two fields work in very different yet similar methodologies. I definitely look to anthropological field methods in my practice. How can contemporary art benefit anthropologists?

I'm going to post this in the urban anthropology group as well. I hope to have a conversation about our fields and their future working together.

My project's working title is "Facing Inside Surfaces" and consists of two installation pieces - one is a video/sound installation and the other is a photo/sound installation.

Here's a private link to the mock-up for the video installation, please have a look:

and comments are always appreciated!

I'm currently finishing the mock-up for the photo/sound installation, and will post that once it is ready.

Hope to hear form you!

Hi Cida,

Thanks for watching! I'll keep you posted on the progress.

Curious to know more about your work as a visual anthropologist ... unfortunately I don't speak Danish, so I don't understand  the dialogue in many of your videos on vimeo, would you mind talking a bit about your interests and themes?

Thanks!

Best,

Nicole

Hi Nicole

Well, I am working towards a feature documentary, about any topic realy, as long its about interesting people...but I am traying to work in the field of documentary and art, Visual anthropology is for me a method more then a genre, but many of my videos are made for small-scale Danish organizations, and its almost about anything. .

I would like to work on a more international projecta at some point.

Hi Cida,

Do you have subtitles for any of your works? I would be interested to understand the dialogue. Also, I am interested that you say that visual anthropology for you is a method. I definitely agree that genres can be restricting. What does it mean that it is a method?

Best,

Nicole

Hi Nicole

Sorry, no subtitles yeat. If you have time at some point, please take a look at this documentary draft  I am planning to make, maybe it explain what I mean by method.
