these candle stands are the main votive space near hazrat meryem ana evi near the ruins of ancient ephesus. they are found near the exit. the room from which pilgrims and visitors exit was once largely reserved for muslim pilgrims to pray in, where as now it has been largely Christianised. The space formerly displayed koranic verses on the wall about the Virgin Mary. These have now been translated from Arabic and placed on a small plaque outside the church. a few steps away, one finds these candle stands.
