Jean Sybil La Fontaine replied to Ash's discussion some sociocultural anthropologists DON'T KNOW HOW TO COMMUNICATE WITH ANYBODY BESIDES THEIR OWN RESEARCH SUBJECTS
"I am surprised that no-one has mentioned that there is a connection between thought and language. No-one who writes the sort of gobbledygook that passes for anthropology today can be thinking with any clarity. Not everyone can write deathless prose…"

Jean Sybil La Fontaine replied to Huon Wardle's discussion Ritual Murder? Questions and Answers with the Author.
"I have now read the article and it seems to me that these killings are do-it-yourself sacrifices to Kali for personal gain rather than part of a public ritual. Since the police had the details of most of the cases they were clearly considered…"

Hi Jean,

Welcome to the OAC! We are hosted by Ning which has a standard formula for filling in a member's profile here and everywhere else. Most people only fill in what they want. We have a job persuading some to give their first and second names. So please leave out whatever you think is inappropriate. If you want you can drop the Sybil, but it's nice to know it.

I am not sure that it is either necessary or helpful to put a lot of information about oneself out when the aim is to discuss ideas. Why the date of birth for instance? I don't mind people knowing my age but does it help people to understand what I write? Perhaps to note that i am a dinosaur, one of the few remainging peopl who were taught by The Ancestors- Fortes, Evans-Pritchard, Firth etc. Enough.
