About Katin

Systems and linguistics guy, especially where those intersect with humans and technology. 20+ years experience cycling between software engineer and technology/systems trainer. Learned to program in 1978, jumping into Z-80 assembly language programming in 1979. Spent many professional years developing large-scale networks of intelligent nodes and database systems.

To balance the technical side, I have 250 hours of training in hypnotherapy, 600 hours training in somatic psychology, and 15 years of self-study in NLP. My teachers and influences include Richard Strozzi Heckler, John Searle, Paula Love, Steve Gibson, and of course the NLP authors and teachers Richard Bandler, John Grinder, Robert Dilts, Steve Andreas, Connirae Andreas, and Michael Hall.

I'm one of those language geeks that think of language as software, including recursion and viruses. My interests of studying the structure of language have brought me fun learning Latin, German, French (my least favorite), American Sign Language and a bit of Russian.

I'm a builder, scripter and role player in Second Life - my avatar is Kalisten VanDornan. I'm fascinated by the idea of a new kind of sociology being opened by Second Life, and I think there is a strong vein of new opportunity for anthropology there as well.

If that sounds interesting to you, I'd love to chat with you about it.
