Making places into tourist destinations: visibility and visitablity of the Romanian countryside

My research investigates what turns some places of the Romanian countryside into tourist destinations, and aims to understand how, in this context, certain representations of 'Romanianess' are built and communicated, particularly through online advertising. I aim to explore the diversity and the unity behind a phenomenon which is dispersed geographically and twofold in its manifestation: as a discourse, and as a practice.
