“Twitter, Schmitter!" & a Few Fun Tweets

Found Poetry

Twitter, schmitter!

We now have

a court order!

We will wipe out

all of these!

The international

community can say this,

can say that.

I don't care at all!

Everyone will see

how powerful

the Turkish State is!

Erdogan, Turkish PM

An Invitation to a Circumcision: the World According to V. Putin (Found Poems).

Reading Putin*.

I looked the man in the eye.

I found him to be

very straightforward

and trustworthy.

We had a very good dialogue.

I was able to get a sense

of his soul,

a man deeply committed to his country

and the best interests of his country.

I wouldn't have invited him

to my ranch

if I didn't trust him.

*George Bush, June 2001.

Figuring Elephants

(1)

Rainwater, river water,

Groundwater, floodwaters;

Cold mountain stream water,

Brackish lagoon waters;

Water that slowly seeps into a wetland,

Water that rushes down a waterfall.

Gigaliters of water.

Adapter from Leah Gibbs (2006, Valuing Water).

In the Everglades…

Dreamtime: Clifford Geertz

He didn’t realize

After an isolated childhood,

When he started out

To see what might be going on

Elsewhere in the world,

That there would be

A final exam…

Clifford Geertz, 1999 Charles Haskins Lecture to the American Council of Learned Relations.

Dreamtime II.

A moment of confusion

And uncertainty of direction,

And an unlooked-for…

A Graduate's Life

(A found poem ~  just for fun...)

Dawn and dusk haven't mattered differently to me since I came here.

Neither have I found the seasons tied to the arrival of kites nor to their departure.

Not even the glow of fireflies or the songs of cicadas have anchored me

in some small way to natural…

Tapeko

The sun had begun to set over the Tswane Hills outside Pretoria, when the Rainbow Shelter boys wound up their regular soccer match and retreated to the main block. They left behind a ball in the net of the goal posts close to the wire fence that ran between the shelter and the back street. The black and white striped ball was visible from the graffiti-sprayed warehouse across the street, where ‘drop-in’ boys…

Keeping Gaddafi at Bay

       [Found poem]
