Hi Keith, I am in fact in Paris, but I understand you are now in S. Africa! We now have a project with Federico Neiburg on "Modes of government and ordinary economic practices", which is thrilling. I am off to Brazil, where we'll discuss this. Would love to have a beer when you're around.

Hi Keith- what books by Jack Goody would you recommend? I believe I read that you studied with him and I am interested in his work.  Thanks

Thank you for inviting me. But I'm afraid that I can't come because I don't have a visa. I wish you a successful meeting!

Thank you Professor Hart for the invitation. I may be able to contribute helpful information on the concurrent disappearance of

  • integrity in government science and
    constitutional limits on government

Society is deeply troubled. I want to help, but I know little about anthropology, sociology, or government.

The corruption I have witnessed in government science since starting research on the "Origin of the Solar System and its Elements" in 1960, strongly suggests George Orwell correctly forecast the current state of society in the futuristic novel he wrote in 1948 and entitled "1984"  http://www.online-literature.com/orwell/1984/

My research mentor, the late Professor P. K. Kuroda, probably assigned me this project because he knew world leaders were frightened and responded irrationally to the powerful force of creation and destruction that destroyed Hiroshima and Nagasaki on 6 Aug 1945 and 9 Aug 1945.

Here's my on-going blog on this subject:

Keith, yes, it's been rather a long time.  Since Ann Arbor, I've actually been in the UK and then in The Netherlands (where I ran the MA in Development Studies at the ISS).  I'm now, after 25 years, back in the States, in the DC area.  But, my son Reuben has just finished his MA in Visual Anthropology at Kent and is looking for PhD options.  You may see him in the flesh before you see me!

Thanks for the welcome, Keith!  Looking forward to revivalism :-)  Perhaps I will stir the pot a bit myself, shortly.

Thanks, Keith.  Here's a question: I'm looking for an appropriate digital venue for a re-issue of my old Bateson biography.  Any suggestions?

Keith, was going to respond to your link to the piece on how social networks collapse but everything I click on takes me to the article to which you are pointing us, not to a place to reply on OAC. How is this supposed to work?

John
