Sir, Many thanks for your welcome note. I am glad to be part of OAC. Its wonderful to see the members of this anthroplogy community with expertise in different sub-branches. Best wishes to you.
Paul- well said (Theory in Anthropology). I too have been frustrated by a contributor whose postings have seemed rather self-righteous, dogmatic and unhelpfully argumentative - pre-occupied with defending and attacking, never willing to concede anything whatsoever. I consider it bad manners.
Paul, thanks for your welcome and hopefully I will able to contribute to this group as well. I'm just putting together my own thinking around the area of digital anthropology and my own research and I shall update my page shortly.
Hi! I think it is very interesting, you worked as software engineer so long and after that you started to study anthropology. I know one lecturer, who first study chemistry and physics, 8 years worked in lab. Then she started to study ethnology and nowadays she lecture sociology at university. I suppose this combination of two ways of thinking can be helpful for better understanding the culture.

....there is a new post, maybe of interest? Anthropology of Habitat and Architecture: The five main lines of the evolution of culture". You will find it at the OAC-Blog site.
wow, your use of this website is impressive! i should have done this when i was going through school-- it would have helped me to be more organized. kudos!
Good to see you here, Paul. I know that you said you would be occupied for a couple of days. Some of us from the original Twitter group have been trying to sort out administrative responsibilities. This process is still embryonic and I hope you will find a way to take part. It took off faster than anyone expected and we need to slow down a bit and take stock of what is needed to move the OAC forward.

I just wanted to draw your attention to the recording of Matt Cook's and Daniel Miller's talk 'Home' at Birkbeck on Thursday 28 October 2010, which is available to listen/download now at the following URL:

It seems your website is down for the time being. I'm very interested in taking a look, from the perspective of one mature age student to another.
Cheers.
Michael.
